Calligraphy is an art that takes time.  The time that it takes is well worth the finished product that you and your guests will receive.
IF you are considering having calligraphy incorporated into your wedding, try to plan for it and budget it in.  You want to make sure that you are able to book for services and have all of your material on time for the transformation from plain to posh.

Calligraphy is a great way to add to and complete a beautiful wedding.

From Traditional to Casual-From Elegant to Simple you can not go wrong with calligraphy.  There are so many different areas to add it and so many ways to give it.

YOU DON'T GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING HANDWRITTEN CALLIGRAPHY UNDERSTAND THAT HANDWRITTEN CALLIGRAPHY TAKES LONGER THAN USING A "REGULAR INK PEN." A Lot of concentration goes into the formation of each letter turning it into the magnificent art that you want.   EACH ENVELOPE IS HAND ADDRESSED INDIVIDUALLY AND IT TAKES A LITTLE TIME

YOU WILL WANT TO GET ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THE BEGINNING RATHER THAN WAITING UNTIL THE LAST
MINUTE.
Be Sure to order extra envelopes, place cards, table cards, etc.   15% extra

1.  When you order your invitations, talk with your supplier about good quality envelopes.  You may order very nice invitations, BUT the envelopes sometimes will be very poor quality. This is RARE, however, it is a good idea to  Take a Fountain Pen with you and test a sample to see if the ink bleeds, feathers, runs etc. Basically just checking to see if the paper holds ink well.

2.  Important:  You should order your invitations in plenty of time to allow for addressing and all other services.  When you decide to have your invitations addressed be sure to calculate the time that it takes to stuff, seal and stamp.  It is an excellent idea to contact a calligrapher when you are starting to contact other vendors.  This will allow you to ask questions, check availability for services, get estimates, samples, etc.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE
ESPECIALLY DURING THE SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL MONTHS THERE ARE MANY WEDDINGS WITH THE SAME DATE

* LINED OR DARK ENVELOPES WILL NORMALLY TAKE LONGER TO ADDRESS

3. Turn Around times vary depending on the calligraphy services that you choose and the size of job. Average turnaround time is 12 business days per 100.

4. IT IS NORMAL TO ASK FOR OR BE ASKED TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT OF THE CONDITIONS AGREED UPON; ALWAYS KEEP EMAILS RELATED TO THE WORK YOU ARE HAVING DONE

5. The start date is the date that materials and completed guest list is in hand.

6. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due before work will begin. The remainder of the balance is due upon completion of the job. FREE PRIORITY SHIPPING AND ALL MATERIAL WILL TRY TO BE RETURNED IN THE SAME PACKAGING AS IT WAS RECEIVED.

7.  Rachel Snyder does not offer stuffing, stamping and mailing of your invitations at this time

8.  THERE ARE NO UNEXPECTED CHARGES

Purchase at least an extra 10 per hundred of envelopes, place cards, etc.

Have your list type in 2 columns one for the Outer envelope and one for the Inner

Mr. and Mrs. John Someone
                   (traditional)  Mr. and Mrs. Someone
145 Willow Lake Drive
Somewhere, Virginia    12345                   John and Jane (a bit more casual, but acceptable)

Do not use abbreviations, spell out Street, Avenue, Circle, and all of the States.  Everything will be written exactly the way it is received unless their is something that is obviously questionable at which point you will be contacted.  There is no charge for helping clients with these things.

List should be typed in word or emailed in 2 columns in a clear 12 pt Veranda or other legible font and size.

JUST A FEW THINGS ABOUT ETIQUETTE

RACHEL WILL BE GLAD TO HELP YOU ON ETIQUETTE IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT.  THERE ARE MANY ONLINE SOURCES FOR ETIQUETTE HELP

Children over 18  usually get their own invitation

INSTEAD OF PUTTING "and Family" on the outer envelope you can list the guests name on the inner envelope.  If you do NOT want to invite someone do NOT list the name on the inner envelope.

For more information on etiquette visit: http://calligraphyrae2.blogspot.com ;              http://blog.eleganttouchinvitations.com

Your inner envelopes can be mixed, i.e. some formal, some informal; this is your option for example:  You may want Aunt Millie and Uncle John on a particular family member and on someone not as close, you may want the inner envelope to be more formal..... Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Your Outer address should not have more than 4 lines not counting zip and your inner envelope should not have more than 3 It will not be as elegant if you try to fit too much into a limited space.

If there is more than one family or a second person 18 or over you should provide them with an invitation of their own.

Your invitations should be mailed at least 6 to 8 weeks prior to your wedding

There are many online resources for etiquette but I will be glad to help you if you have a question.

Try to be as organized as you can.
THE SOONER YOU CAN GET YOUR INVITATIONS ORDERED AND GET THE ENVELOPES TO ME THE BETTER AND QUICKER I CAN HAVE THEM DONE.
turn around time (on average 12 days per 100) it normally does not take that long, however, this does allow for changes, additions, and error.
